ADSp - General German Freight Forwarder Terms and Conditions

CMR – International Convention on Contracts for the International Carriage of Goods by Road Reading ADSp - General German Freight Forwarder Terms and Conditions 3 minutes

ADSp (General German Freight Forwarders’ Conditions): These are basically the general terms and conditions of Freight forwarders . In short, the idea is that most transports have similar requirements and therefore similar agreements can be made between business partners.

Thousands of transports are carried out in Germany every day. Over the decades, standards have been developed that most senders, recipients and transporters adhere to. Those who frequently receive or send goods will find it easier if they adhere to these standards. This includes things like a loading ramp for trucks if you frequently load or unload trucks.

Over time, legal standards have also been established. There are an incredible number of shippers, freight forwarders and freight forwarding companies. It would be time-consuming to renegotiate all the basics with each new business partner. That is why almost all freight forwarding companies work according to the ADSp. They simplify negotiations because all partners know and use the ADSp.

By the way: What is Difference between a freight forwarder and a carrier ?

When do the ADSp apply?

The ADSp apply exclusively to national transport among business people. These are transports that start in Germany, continue in Germany and end in Germany. For international transports that cross at least one national border, there are the so-called CMR .

Latest version of the ADSp

The ADSp were stable for many years, but there have been several changes in recent years. On the following pages you will find the full text of the respective version:

The latest version of the ADSp therefore from the Year 2017 .

What do the ADSp regulate?

The ADSp regulate everything related to the businesslike Transport, i.e. for transport between business people.

These include questions such as liability, payment, questions of liability and the like. As always with legal questions, if everything goes well, you don't really need the ADSp. But if things don't go well, a look at the small print helps. That's why freight forwarders learn the conditions during their training.

Who draws up the ADSp?

They are agreed and recommended by the following partners:

  • German Industry (BDI),
  • Federal Association of Wholesale, Foreign Trade and Services (BGA),
  • Federal Association of Road Haulage, Logistics and Disposal (BGL),
  • Federal Association of Furniture Forwarders and Logistics (AMÖ),
  • Federal Association of Business, Transport and Logistics (BWVL),
  • Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK),
  • German Freight Forwarders and Logistics Association (DSLV) and
  • German Retail Association (HDE).
